Session1 Session 2

What will the curriculum cover?

There will be three levels of difficulty, K-2, 3-5, and 6-adult. All lessons will be available to all students. You will be able to choose which lessons and activities are suitable for you or your students. Some lessons are available in both Spanish and English. You can do either or both.
The classes will be divided into 6 sessions. Each session will cover one or two major topics, such as basic word processing or spreadsheets. All sessions will be online through August, and will have different activities which cover the skills for that session. Students who complete all 6 sessions will cover everything that the state of Texas requires students at that level to know.
This chart shows what areas will be covered in each session for each level.

What type of lessons will there be?

Each session will have many different types of lessons. You will be able to do all the lessons, or pick the ones you want your student to do.
Notes will be given in the form of PowerPoint presentations. This will cover things like vocabulary terms, copyright law, and the history of computers. Notes will also be available in Word or PDF files.
Some lessons will be interactive, cartoon movies. These are provided by a company called EasyTech®. Most of these movies are designed to introduce a new topic, such as types of graphics, or using formulas in spreadsheets.
Activities are hands-on lessons designed to expand on the skills you learn in the movies. Some of these are lessons that I have used in my classes, and some are from EasyTech®. Many of the EasyTech® lessons are integrated into math, science, English or social studies lessons. For example, Level 1 (K-2) activities on databases involve using the online card catalog at the library.
EasyTech® also includes Practice sessions on some skills that involve solving puzzles, or practicing your touch typing skills.

There are examples of lessons and activities from different levels, including one lesson in both English and Spanish.

How will the lessons be graded?

Each family will need to decide how you want to grade your assignments. The movie lessons are not graded because they guide you to do the skills correctly, by helping you correct your mistakes.
Activities will come with keys and sometimes grading rubrics for you to grade yourself or your student, if you choose to take grades.
